Joint Council 25 Annual Stewards Training
Several dozen local 743 stewards attended the Joint Council 25 Annual Stewards Training on Saturday August 19, 2017 at Joint Council 25 in Park Ridge Illinois.
John Magna from Illinois Advocates and Labor and employment practitioner John R. Bielski from Pennsylvania were the class instructors. The class covered, grievance handling, problem solving skills, conflict resolution as well as several other valuable skills.
“The training was awesome. Me being a new union steward, it gave me a greater understanding and meaning of what my role and responsibilities as a union steward is.” said University of Chicago union steward, Charise Harper
“Education and trainings are a top priority at Teamsters local 743. Union stewards play a very important role in the success of Local 743. They are the first line of contact for members when they are faced with issues or concerns and we want to make sure that they have the tools they need to succeed.” said President Debra Simmons-Peterson.
As a reminder, union stewards are required to attend a minimum of two (2) training per year.
